EUMETSAT TMPropagator (OSE Real Time) Facility - Download

TM Propagator Satmon Client

This application provides near real time telemetry to the users.

Prerequisites

This application requires the following prerequisites:

A PC running Microsoft Windows 10 or higher operating system.
An Internet connection.
The Microsoft .Net 4.8 runtime or higher, which should be pre-installed on the required Windows versions. If not, it can be downloaded from the Microsoft web site.
If the client machine is behind a firewall, this must be configured to allow outgoing connections on ports 8080 and 8090 (required for the client-server data interface) and standard HTTPS port 443 (for downloading the installation package and display definition files).

Configuration

Execute the shortcut and introduce your username and password as well as which entity you want to monitor.

If the user is correct you will be presented the main index of the views where you can select the views to see.

Please check the client user guide. This document is also available in the Help menu of the client.

In order to access data from the past please click on the clock button, indicate the date, click on Set and then click on Play to see data as it was ingested back then.

Troubleshooting

The following issues may arise (in descending order of frequency):

Client fails to log in with error "Login failed: could not connect to data socket"
Reason: the client is either directly or via VPN behind a firewall that prevents him from reaching ports 443, 8080 or 8090.

Solution: either ask your network department to allow connection to the TM Propagator machines on these ports or disable the VPN.
Client fails to start up with error: "error loading assembly"
Reason: the client is a portable version that is missing the file satmon.exe.conf.

Solution: contact us to fix the portable package.
Portable client fails to log in with error "No servers available"
Reason1: the client is not the same version as the server.

Solution: upgrade the client.

Reason2: the entity is disabled in the servers.

Solution: please ensure with the mission that the entity should be available. If so please contact contact us to start it up.

Reason3: the server has a misconfiguration in internal file ORSFSource.xml.

Solution: contact contact us to fix it.
Portable client access links do not launch anything
Reason: you are executing the access links from the zip file without decompressing.

Solution: decompress the portable client to a directory and then execute the links there.
Client takes about one minute to log in but then works fine
Reason: one of the TM Propagator servers is down and the login process needs to time out.

Solution: contact us and we'll restart the server.
Client does not update telemetry but other clients do update
Reason: the client probably lost connectivity and doesn't update anymore.

Solution: restart the client. You can save the layout before doing so.
Client gets error "This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algoritms"
Reason: the encryption libraries used to send the password are disabled in this PC.

Solution: disable FIPS by setting to 0 in regex keys Enabled and MDMEnabled within key: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControl\Lsa\FipsAlgorithmPolicy (requires administrator rights and probably blessing from your security department).
Client gets error "Failed to load any startup file"
Reason: starting from version 3.4.0 the connections between the TMPropagator client and the servers are established via HTTPS with TLS 1.2 instead of HTTP.

Solution: check that the firewall allows outgoing connections on standard HTTPS port 443.

Solution2: (Windows 7 only) although Windows 7 is not officially supported, the TMPropagator should be able to run on it – no guarantee! – but it is necessary to install some libraries to allow the use of TLS 1.2. More information can be found here. Note that being able to access HTTPS websites with the browser does not guarantee that such libraries are installed.
Client gets error "The X.509 certificate [...] chain building failed"
Reason1: starting from version 3.5.0 the connections between the TMPropagator client and the servers are based on the protocol Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) instead of the obsolete .NET Remoting.

Solution: make sure that your network configuration supports WCF.

Reason2: the Root and Intermediate certificates are not installed on the Client machine, therefore our server certificate cannot be verified.

Solution: download and install the missing certificates "DigiCert Global Root G2" and "Thawte TLS RSA CA G1" on the Client machine. A quick guide to install the certificates is available here.

New Page Editor

This application allows the user to define his own AND and GRD views to load in the TM Propagator Satmon Client if the shared views are not enough.

Prerequisites

This application requires the following prerequisites:

Same requirements as the TMPropagator Satmon Client.
A copy of the database to use for the displays. You can contact us to get it.

You can download the application as a Portable zip file.

Configuration

The application is launched by executing NewPageEditor\NewPageEditor.exe. You shall first of all import the database by selecting File > Open Local Database... . This will populate the Parameters section on the right. You can then drag parameters from the Parameters section on the right to the black panel.

Mimics Page Editor

This application allows for creating views of the parameters in a graphical format.
